From Horsepower to Padel Power: Anriette & Terry-Anne Take on the Court

What happens when two high-performing women from wildly different worlds swap the fast lane for the padel court? You get Anriette Van Wyk, a racing adrenaline junkie, and Terry-Anne Hart, a corporate strategist with a competitive streak, both learning the ropes—and falling in love with the game.

From Kyalami to Thrashers

Anriette’s story starts on the track. A professional photographer and advanced driving instructor by day, she made her motorsport debut in 2024 racing Formula Super Vee at Zwartkops and later at the legendary Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit. Her best finish? Fourth in class—with her personal best lap time clocked at home.

So, what brings her to the Padel Ball court?

“I’m competitive in everything I do. Padel is a new challenge. It’s fast, technical, and honestly, a lot tougher than it looks!”

A New Challenge, A Different Kind of Rush

Anriette and Terry-Anne first connected over the idea of “Paddle & Pedal”—a content series that blends their shared passion for sports and storytelling. Neither of them had played before. But both are addicted now.

Terry-Anne brings her sharp focus from the boardroom to the baseline.

“My work life is high-pressure. Padel is similar—it demands fast thinking, teamwork, and focus. That mental edge is something I thrive on.”

Teamwork, Timing & Turning Mistakes into Momentum

Their playing styles? Anriette is the power smasher, Terry-Anne is the placement pro. Together, they balance out beautifully on court—even if there’s still a little chaos in the footwork.

“I thought I was fit from racing,” Anriette laughs,
“But Padel taught me otherwise. It’s a proper workout.”

Lessons from the Court

This isn’t just about picking up a new hobby. It’s about growth.

“The master was once the beginner,” says Anriette.
“I love the grind.”

“For me,” adds Terry-Anne,
“It’s about community. You meet amazing people, and you always leave the court feeling better than when you walked on.”

They’ve already talked about tournaments. They’re training hard. And if we’re betting on chemistry, Team Terry-Anriette might be one to watch.

Crossover Skills: Motorsport Meets Match Point

Both women agree: Padel and motorsport are more alike than you’d think.

  • Split-second decisions
  • Sharp reflexes
  • Staying cool under pressure

There’s even talk of a corporate boardroom padel format—settle deals with volleys, close contracts with smashes? We like the sound of that.

Are we going to see these two enter a tournament soon?

“With our powers combined,” says Anriette,
“We’ll drill the competition.”

We believe it.
